What do we stand for?

CONFESS is dedicated to advocating for those affected by genocide and crimes against humanity in the lands that gave birth to the Abrahamic faiths. We unite those of all Christian denominations with the common goal of speaking truth to power and promoting justice.

THE FIVE TENETS OF CONFESS
(Our Purpose and Mission)

(1) CONFESS is for Christians of all denominations who wish to speak out boldly against genocide, ethnic cleaning, and other crimes against humanity, taking place in the lands that cradled the Abrahamic faiths, and who wish to amplify, with the addition of their own voice, a message of solidarity to victims of such crimes, and a message of challenge and rebuke to all in civic authority who are complicit in such crimes.

(2) CONFESS believes that it is an imperative for those who profess to follow Jesus Christ to speak out against evil, including crimes against humanity, especially in circumstances where such crimes take place in full view of the watching world. To remain silent is morally indefensible.

(3) CONFESS believes in a God who does not abandon his creation, but who - supremely in the incarnation - becomes involved in the world, and thereby summons us in partnership to speak truth to power, and to engage with, and not stand aside from, the world of politics and law.

(4) CONFESS believes that the gospel of Jesus Christ is essentially compatible with the international rules-based order, as embodied in the instruments of the United Nations, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, as well as the accountability provided for by the Geneva Convention and the international courts.

(5) CONFESS believes in the dignity of every human being, made in the image of God, and stands square against racism and discrimination of every kind. As such, we are alert to any language or action that seeks to perpetuate cycles of hatred, dehumanisation or violence.
